Years ago I had a coworker tell me something that changed my life. He said, “Team work makes the dream work.” However in that particular job I felt stuck. I loved the work, but by the end of 2 ½ years I was making $9.23/hr, as a college graduate, had a family to support, and the prospects for the future didn’t look so hot.
Realizing this, I made a drastic change and in 2002 I started my own piano tuning business. Things developed quickly and I established connections that lead to a lot of business. That change virtually doubled my income overnight – and it took half the time of my previous job – success!
Well, in April of 2004 I acquired some new clients – Kris & Kalenn Krohn. When I got to their home I could tell almost immediately that there was something different about Kris that struck a chord in me. For one, being a young guy in his mid-twenties, he was at home in the middle of the day (my typical tuning client was the stay-at-home mom). And secondly he owned more than 12 investment properties!
Shortly after meeting him I offered to pay him $1500 to mentor me and teach me his real estate investing secrets. At that time he didn’t even have a system in place, but I didn’t care. I wanted what he did have – and that was knowledge, vision and possibility.
You see, I had a major problem with my existing business. I could look into the future and see that, within a few short years, I was going to hit a financial ceiling – and that was extremely discouraging. You can only tune so many pianos in a day and charge so much per piano…and what’s more is that when I stopped working, the money stopped flowing.
Since meeting Kris my life has changed dramatically. Now, at age 33, we own 3 local properties, more than 25 properties nationwide and have created cash flows that continue to come in month after month. Becoming involved with Kris and REIC has completely blown the roof off of my financial possibilities!
Now I know that “team work truly does make the dream work.
